Heavy rain and snow has been moving through the Pacific Northwest and additional moisture is ahead over the next 48 hours. More than a foot of snow has fallen in the higher elevations of Idaho with up to 3″ of rain in Oregon.
Winter weather alerts are in effect from the Cascades to Yellowstone National Park. Snow will increase today and continue into Tuesday.
The highest mountain peaks may see more than 2 feet of snow with several inches in the foothills. Rainfall along the coast may top 3″.
A cold front will cut across the Pacific Northwest throughout the day. Heavy rain and snow will become more widespread in the afternoon and evening.
Moisture will become more scattered along the coast Tuesday morning, with periods of heavy snow in Idaho and Montana.
As the front moves out of the region Tuesday evening. the heavy rain and snow will diminish, but scattered rain and snow showers will continue.
