MINNEOTA — A 44-year-old man has died after suffering traumatic injuries at a construction site Wednesday, according to Lyon County Sheriff Eric Wallen.

In the late afternoon press release, Wallen reported that fire and public safety services were dispatched at 2:30 p.m. to the 3600 block of 180th Avenue, approximately 2 miles northeast of Minneota, for a man who had become trapped and pinned by equipment.

According to the release, the man was operating heavy construction equipment.The equipment overturned on the male.

Wallen said the matter remains under investigation and the name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family.

The Minneota Fire Department, Minneota first responders and North Memorial Ambulance responded and assisted at the scene.
