With reports that Clemson athletics director Dan Radakovich is being targeted for the same role at Miami, another ACC school appears to be looking in-conference to fill its soon-to-be vacant post.
Florida State AD David Coburn will retire at the end of spring after 3 years in the position and a total of 10 years at the university. And, according to Sports Illustrated’s Pat Forde, the university is eyeing current Louisville AD Vince Tyra. Forde reports that interest between the 2 parties “is mutual and serious” and that Louisville’s board of trustees will meet on Monday regarding the possibility of Tyra’s departure.
“Relations between Tyra and U of L president Neeli Bendapudi are strained enough that a potential parting could be considered mutual,” Forde tweeted.
Tyra was named Louisville’s athletics director in March 2018 following the firing of Tom Jurich amid the Cardinals men’s basketball team scandal. The Kentucky alum, whose father was a former Cardinals basketball player, has hired both Chris Mack and Scott Satterfield during his tenure.
