Scattered strong storms may bring heavy rain and damaging wind gusts to the Syracuse area this afternoon or evening, according to the National Weather Service.
The most severe weather from this line of storms is expected to hit along the New York/Pennsylvania border. Several rounds of storms are possible in some areas, according to the NWS.
“Locally heavy rainfall is possible in any storms,” the National Weather Service in Binghamton said. “There will be potential for flash flooding if any thunderstorms persist for a period of time over any one area.”
The forecast office in Binghamton was unsure exactly when the storms would arrive in the area and said it was possible they would shift southward before this evening.
