LAST TIME OUT - NCAA OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
Freshman Rachel Glenn captured South Carolina track and field's 26th individual national championship with a victory in the women's high jump on Saturday at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Glenn reached a lifetime best mark of 1.93m (6-4) to win the crown for the Gamecocks, the second high jump outdoor title for Carolina in the last six outdoor seasons.
As a team the Gamecocks finished in 18th on the women's side and 42nd on the men's side. The finish for the women is the second-straight time the Gamecocks have finished the outdoor season inside the top 20 and is the fourth time in the last five seasons the women have finished inside the top 25 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
In total the Gamecocks finished with 11 Outdoor All-America honors. Rachel Glenn (High Jump), Ashton Lindley (400m Hurdles, 4x400m Relay), Malik Paul (Discus), Stephanie Davis (4x400m Relay), Aliyah Abrams (4x400m Relay) and Alysia Johnson (4x400m Relay) all received first team distinctions. Second team honors were given to De'Andreah Young (400m Hurdles), Aliyah Abrams (400m) and William Spencer Jr. (400m Hurdles). Stephanie Davis also received honorable mention All-America honors.

MEET INFORMATION
This year's U.S. Olympic Trials are being held in Eugene, Ore., The U.S. Olympic Team Trials is a collaboration between the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) and USA Track & Field (USATF). The event will be presented across NBC platforms. The event will take place at reimagined Hayward Field, the second event to be held at the facility after the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships were held there in early June. In regards to fans at the facility, Hayward Field announced recent changes to Oregon health regulations will enable fans to cheer from the stands of the newly reimagined stadium as the best athletes in the country pursue their Olympic dreams on June 18–27, 2021. For more information, click here.
SOUTH CAROLINA'S U.S. OLYMPIANS
South Carolina has historically had much success in the United States and not only earning spots on the U.S. Olympic roster, but turning that into high-level success the Olympics. At the 2016 Rio Olympics the Gamecocks saw Natasha Hastings earn the program's 14the Olympic medal as a part of Team USA's 4x400m relay. Hastings nearly earned an individual medal in the 400m, finishing fourth. Head coach Curtis Frye served as an assistant coach for Team USA, helping the Americans earn 32 medals in Rio, including 13 gold medals. In total, the Gamecocks have had 14 different representatives on Team USA's track and field roster since 2000.
