Here's our latest weather outlook for India
5-Day Nationwide Forecast
The southwest monsoon has further advanced into the remaining areas of Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar, along with the entire Western Himalayan region and most parts of Uttar Pradesh, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The Northern Limit of Monsoon runs through south Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, north Punjab and north Haryana.
The low-pressure area, which formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal on Friday, lies over Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha. The well-marked low-pressure area could move west-northwestward and is likely to prevail over Jharkhand, Bihar and north Chhattisgarh for the next 2-3 days, as per the IMD forecast. An east-west trough (an extended low-pressure area) extends from central Pakistan to the centre of this low-pressure area. An off-shore trough runs off the west coast triggering hot and humid southwesterly winds across Konkan and Malabar coasts.
Due to the combination of these meteorological conditions, widespread heavy rains are expected over Konkan and Malabar coasts, and also the many parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar until Thursday dawn. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely over parts of Northwest India on Monday and Tuesday; over east, central and west for the next 3 days; and over northeast and south for the next five days.
Isolated extremely heavy rains are likely over Konkan and Goa on Monday and Tuesday, and over coastal Karnataka and Madhya Maharashtra on Tuesday. Accordingly. the IMD has placed a red warning over Konkan and Goa region for Monday.
Maximum temperatures are very much below normal over some places of plain areas across northern and eastern India due to the low-pressure area and trough mentioned above. The Western Himalayan Region could remain slightly warmer than average due to the influx of hot southerly winds from the Arabian Sea.
