The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is searching for a missing swimmer, after a current swept three people away Friday night off Apollo Beach.
Officials say an adult was found dead.
A child was found alive and taken to a nearby hospital, but later died, officials said.
The search for the third swimmer continues in the waters near the 6000 block of Surfside Boulevard.
Deputies say that individual — who they are calling the "Apollo Beach Hero" — jumped into the water to save the other two but was also swept away by the current.
This is a developing story. It will be updated.
