BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - FIRST ALERT the risk for severe storms on Saturday afternoon and evening is elevated. The weather through this evening will be quiet and worry free. It’s after 10 p.m. that a shield of rain moves in and then becomes widespread and heavy across central Alabama by 3 a.m. Areas south of I-20, after 3 a.m. could see a strong or severe storm. If so, a tornado can’t be ruled out or damaging winds. Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Greene, Sumter, Hale could see that chance between 3-5 a.m. Bibb, Shelby, Perry, Chilton, Talladega, Coosa could see that threat between 4-7 a.m., and points eastward through 9 a.m.
