Once upon a time, many in western New York thought it was likely that Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll‘s coaching career in his hometown was coming to an end. But in fact, that could actually be the case for Leslie Frazier instead.

On Thursday every head coaching vacancy across the NFL was filled after the Eagles hired Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni … except one. That job is the Texans’ opening.

Just by simple logic, Daboll is now off the market, essentially.

Daboll never interviewed for Texans job, so by comparison, he’s essentially going nowhere. On the flip side, Frazier did interview for it … so he’s much more likely to skip town.

But a report from the Houston Chronicle now adds a ton more fuel to that fire as Frazier is now said to be among those under “heavy consideration” for the job currently. He’s one of two guys in that spot, with the other being Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy:

Frazier has interviewed with the Texans at least one time, which reportedly occurred on Sunday. The NFL announced this week that teams could double-down and talk to candidates again during this week if those are conducted over video, but no report on whether or not Frazier has done so has surfaced yet.

Since 2017, Frazier has been Buffalo’s defensive coordinator and eventually was promoted to assistant head coach. Frazier calls the plays for Buffalo’s defense as well. The 61-year-old was previously the head coach of the Vikings from 2011-2013 after taking over as their interim head coach in 2010.
