For quite a while I have been thinking of writing in thanks for Ross Gibson’s articles on local history. His columns are always terrific, with fascinating local information that can not be found compiled so well anywhere else but in the Sentinel. I was finally moved to write in thanks because I so much appreciated his article “Lethal lies make Civil War,” tackling head on the issues and groups involved in our current political chaos and relating them to events and movements in the past. This went beyond local history, but at the same time included local events in historical context. At the end of reading I wanted more, and I hope this thread is to be continued in coming days.
