The French Open 2020 is receiving some hefty criticism even before the first service has been made. Rafael Nadal pointed out his issues with the Wilson balls which will be in action this year in the Roland Garros. After gaining support from Dominic Thiem, Nadal now has the support of Novak Djokovic.

Novak Djokovic supported the 12 times French Open champion and stated the fact that the balls do have some weight upon them. Although he raised a query as to whether the ball is naturally heavy or it is due to the external factors which are affecting the natural pace of the ball.

“I agree that the balls are heavy,” Djokovic claimed. “But also it’s probably because we are also almost in October, and it’s very cold. The clay is also heavy and wet. Just overall conditions are also affecting the ball itself. It’s very hard to say whether the ball is heavy in general or is it because we are playing under these kinds of slow and heavy conditions?”

Novak Djokovic and his 18th Grand Slam

Nadal spoke out previously that it travels a bit slower than the usual Babolat balls. Criticizing the balls, Nadal pointed out that it will require some extra work to place the ball, increasing the chances of injury. Considering his issues with the wrist, Nadal will be having a tough time sneaking towards his 13th Roland Garros.

This proves to be an easy opportunity for Novak Djokovic to go for his 18th Grand Slam title in Paris. Djokovic is in tremendous form this year. His unfortunate ‘default’ in the US Open 2020 remains the only defeat this year. He is marked with controversies this year although his performance is enough to silence his critics.

Winning the Italian Open 2020, Djokovic showed a real demonstration of his skills. Overturning a deficit to win on straight sets in the clay bears the news that he is ready to rampage the French Open 2020.

The weather factors will be troubling each of the players. It is to be seen how each one of them deals with it. Consequently, the one who is able to stick amidst the adversaries will go all the way to drink from the cup of Champions. Given the fact Novak Djokovic is known for his ability to hold on to adverse conditions, the French Open 2020 is a remarkable venue to claim his 18th.
