HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hastings College community is currently sitting at six positive cases of COVID-19 which has sent the College into the “pink” level and turned learning virtual for the remainder of this week.
On top of the six positive cases, three of which came about in the past three days, Hastings College has 37 individuals awaiting test results or currently in quarantine simply out of caution.
“The number of quarantined students isn’t necessarily because of close contacts," Susan Meeske, the Executive Vice President of Student Enrollment at Hastings College, said. "We are just being proactive on some of those things out of an abundance of caution.”
For the rest of this week all learning will be virtual however buildings and offices on campus will remain available for students and faculty to use.
On Friday a COVID task force at Hastings College will analyze the data, the results of the tests among the 37 individuals quarantining or awaiting results and how this week has gone and decide to either extend pink level and remote learning or return to in-person activities.
“We’re going to do what’s right to keep our campus safe and healthy,” Meeske said.
Any decisions made this week would go into effect Sunday, Oct. 4.
As of Sept. 26 Hastings College has seen three positive COVID-19 tests and 49 negative tests.
