Staten Island has been home to a number of excellent HS football coaches from various schools across the borough, and last week we took a look back at a few of the all-time legends.
Now, we’re taking a look at some coaches who are currently roaming the sidelines.
From the north to south shores, the PSAL to CHSFL, check out these coaches from the Island’s 11 football-playing schools.

JOE GOERGE -- ST-JOSEPH-BY-THE-SEA
The former Monsignor Farrell All-Star player and assistant coach under Dennis Barrett, Joe Goerge went 56-37-2 in 10 seasons with Port Richmond (1982-91). Goerge recently took over the reigns at St. Joseph-by-the-Sea, where he is set to make his debut this season.
NICK GIANNATASIO -- MOORE CATHOLIC
Moore Head coach Nick Giannatasio guided the Mavericks to the CHSFL-2 title a season ago and has been the head man in Bulls Head since 2015. (Staten Island Advance/Jason Paderon)
MARK DECRISTOFORO -- ST. PETER’S
Mark DeCristoforo, center, had a 29-21 record during his five-year tenure as St. Peter's varsity football coach between 2013-17 before returning to the sideline last year. (Staten Island Advance/Derek Alvez)
ANTHONY GAROFALO -- MONSIGNOR FARRELL
Monsignor Farrell head coach Tony Garofalo, the 1988 Al Fabbri Award winner as a player and a Lions assistant coach in the '90s, has been the head man since 2010. (Staten Island Advance/Charlie De Biase Jr.)
DAVE OLAH -- PETRIDES
Petrides coach Dave Olah has led the Panthers to back-to-back PSAL Cup title games, capturing their first crown last season. He's been the head coach since founding the football program in 2006, playing its first varsity contest in 2008. (Staten Island Advance/Derek Alvez) -
ARTHUR NEWCOMBE -- SUSAN WAGNER
Susan Wagner coach Arthur Newcombe, an Advance All Star himself in the late '90s, replaced the legendary Al Paturzo in 2017 after 33 seasons with the Falcons. (Staten Island Advance/Derek Alvez).
BRIAN NEVILLE -- TOTTENVILLE
Tottenville head coach Brian Neville guided his team to last season's PSAL title game. He took over the reigns in 2016 after Jim Munson's 24-year tenure. (Staten Island Advance/Shane DiMaio)
PETE GAMBARDELLA -- CURTIS
After taking over for the legendary Fred Olivieri in 2008, Curtis head coach Pete Gambardella led the Warriors to the 2009 PSAL crown -- he became only the third SI coach to capture three titles with wins in 2016 and 2017, as well. (Staten Island Advance)
ANTHONY CIALDELLA -- MCKEE/STATEN ISLAND TECH
MSIT head coach Anthony Cialdella has consistently put together winning seasons in the PSAL Bowl division since taking over the program in 2008. (Staten Island Advance/Hilton Flores)
BRIAN MURPHY -- NEW DORP
New Dorp head coach Brian Murphy took over the reins in 2014 after serving as an assistant coach under Chris App for 16 seasons. (Staten Island Advance/Hilton Flores)
LOU VESCE -- PORT RICHMOND
Port Richmond's Lou Vesce, hired in 2006, replaced long-time coach Steve Peretzman, after serving as one of his assistants. He led the Raiders to the 2008 PSAL crown. (Staten Island Advance/Hilton Flores)
