TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department is holding a press conference Tuesday morning to update the community on the current state of COVID-19 vaccine distribution locally. The event will take place at 11 AM and you can the whole thing live below.
Lucas County received the first doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine in mid-December and began rolling it out to hospital staff, emergency responders, and some congregate care facilities like nursing homes and assisted living facilities. The Moderna vaccine followed shortly after.
The next phase of vaccine distribution is set to begin sometime in mid-January and will expand the list of eligible candidates to anyone 65 years and older, as well as all adults working inside school buildings. The goal is to vaccinate those necessary to bring students back into school buildings on March 1.
