On Monday evening, the inevitable came to pass as the Philadelphia Eagles fired head coach Doug Pederson following his pathetic decision to tank in Week 17 against the Washington Football Team.

At the time of Philly’s tanking, many questioned whether or not Pederson would be able to survive after disrespecting the integrity of the game. Even New York Giants head coach Joe Judge took unprecedented aim at Pederson, publicly shaming the 52-year-old.

“There’s a number of sacrifices that have been made by all the players and coaches in this league. There’s a number of sacrifices that come along as well for the family members of the people connected to them,” Judge said in part. “To disrespect the effort that everyone put forward to make this season a success for the National Football League, to disrespect the game by going out there and not competing for 60 minutes and doing everything you can to help those players win. We will never do that as long as I am the head coach of the New York Giants.”

Several current and former members of the Giants were also publicly upset with Pederson’s decision, so it should come as little surprise they were among the first to react when news of Pederson’s termination spread.

Emmanuel Acho, of course, defended Pederson’s decision to tank and thought the takes of legends like Carl Banks were outlandish. However, it’s clear that Acho was ultimately in the minority and intends on going down with a sinking ship.
