We'll see some lingering clouds this evening and overnight, but skies will clear as we head into tomorrow morning. Most of our clearing will be for areas near and north of I-74.
Clear skies allow for temperatures to drop more compared to cloudy skies, so areas that see clearing could drop as low as the mid 30s tomorrow morning. With calm winds in the forecast as well, areas of frost will be possible near and north of I-74. A Frost Advisory has been issued for areas near I-80 and north.
Tomorrow should be a quiet day of weather with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. Highs will be near 60 tomorrow afternoon.
Rain returns to the forecast late tomorrow night and will continue throughout the day on Sunday. Heavy rain may be possible at times.
We are also watching out for the potential for strong to severe storms Sunday evening into Sunday night. This risk will be highly dependent on the location of a warm front as an area of low pressure approaches the Heart of Illinois.
As it looks now, the best chances for any severe weather will be south of I-72, with highest risk closer to I-70 and southwest. Locally our risk mainly includes areas near and south of I-74, but again that will be conditional on the location of the front.
This front moving 50-100 miles north or south will make a big difference in our risk on Sunday. Areas south of the front, where it ends up setting up, could see storms that produce high winds, large hail and possibly a few tornadoes. North of the front, heavy rain will be the main risk, although gusty winds and maybe some hail could also be possible at times.
Some flooding and/or flash flooding may also be possible as rainfall totals could reach or possibly exceed 3".
