5-Day Nationwide Forecast
The monsoon trough lies south of its normal position. It is very likely to be south of its normal position during the next 4-5 days, according to IMD.
A well-marked low-pressure area lies over southeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining parts of north Vidarbha with its associated cyclonic circulation. The well-marked low-pressure area and its remnant are likely to move west-north-westwards during the next 4-5 days.
Owing to these meteorological conditions, the IMD has forecast fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls over Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan, Gujarat state from September 8 to 11. Some places of Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan may also experience isolated extremely heavy falls today, while similar conditions will prevail over Gujarat on September 8 and 9.
Accordingly, IMD has issued a red warning over Gujarat, Saurashtra, Konkan and Goa for today.
Parts of Northwest India are likely to witness fairly widespread to widespread rainfall until September 11. Isolated very heavy falls are possible over Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh in this period. IMD has placed an orange alert over Uttarakhand and Punjab for today.
A low-pressure system will be formed in the inner part of the Bay of Bengal on Saturday and will move northwest. However, it should be noted that heavy rain areas are inland rather than coastal.
Both daytime and nighttime temperatures are noted to be quite higher than normal over much of the Western Himalayan Region, southern Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh at least until late September.

Wednesday
- Scattered thunderstorms are possible over south Gujarat and low altitude parts Western Himalayan Region.
- Heavy rain is widely expected along the north Konkan Coast and over much of Gujarat. Especially, very heavy rain is expected in the south end of Gujarat.
- In the morning, dense fog is possible in several parts of the Trans Himalayas and in the area with the relatively high altitude of the Western Himalayan Region.
- Isolated very heavy falls are likely over Punjab, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and east Rajasthan.
Thursday
- Scattered thunderstorms are possible in Gujarat and over the Central Highlands.
- Heavy rain is expected in the western part and the north end of Gujarat.
- In the morning, dense fog is possible in the northern part of the Trans Himalayas.
