Here's our latest weather outlook for India
5-Day Nationwide Forecast
A cyclonic circulation is present over northern Madhya Pradesh on Monday. The northerly to northwesterly winds flowing in the western part of the circulation and westerly flow from the Arabian Sea converge to produce heavy rain across eastern Rajasthan and northwestern Madhya Pradesh Monday. Total rainfall accumulation of 50-80 mm is expected across the region on Monday, while locally it may surpass the 100 mm mark.
Another cyclonic circulation is located over Pakistan and is expected to bring southwesterly winds across the Western Himalayan Region; as a result, heavy rains are possible across the region on Monday.
Moreover, the cyclonic circulation is likely to move from northwestern Madhya Pradesh northward into Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. Therefore, heavy to locally very heavy rain will continue through over the aforementioned regions on Wednesday. The total rainfall amount is noted to be around 100-150 mm with isolated areas receiving 250-300 mm across many portions of the Western Himalayan regions through Wednesday. The rainfall activity is likely to decrease Thursday onward, while moderate rain will occur through the weekend.
An off-shore trough off the west coast of India will continue to produce lingering heavy rain across the west coast regions through this week, especially for the Maharashtra coast. The daily rainfall accumulation for the coming days is expected to be around 50 mm while accumulating to an additional 300 mm during this week. Therefore, some parts of the state may also witness floods and landslides.
The southerly to southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal are expected to produce moderate to locally heavy rains across northeast India for the next few days. A cyclonic circulation is expected to develop in the north of the Bay of Bengal on Wednesday. This system could intensify rainfall activity across the region by the other half of this week with a daily accumulation of 50 mm each day.
Lastly, the maximum temperatures are noted to be below normal across Central Highland to Gangetic Plain till mid-week, while remaining regions may witness well above normal mercury levels.
The minimum temperatures are expected to be near or above normal across most of the country. The Western Himalayan region may experience significantly warmer overnight lows.
