MEDLEY, FLA. (WSVN) - A dump truck caught fire and is causing major traffic delays on the Palmetto Expressway.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a dump truck lost control and collided with a box truck on the expressway just north of Northwest 58th Street at around 10:40 a.m., Wednesday. The dump truck then crashed into a concrete barrier wall, causing the vehicle to overturn and catch fire.

7SkyForce hovered over the scene where the scorched remains could be seen on the shoulder of the expressway.

The trailer portion of the vehicle could be seen resting over the guardrail.

Video provided by Only In Dade showed the moment the trailer was on fire as heavy black smoke billowed from the highway.

The driver of the box truck was transported to Palmetto Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

Tow trucks have since responded to the scene.

Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes.
