Arkansas is looking for more help on the defensive line and hosted one of its top targets over the weekend in Tomiwa Durojaiye of Middletown (Del.). The versatile 6-4, 255-pound lineman placed the Razorbacks in his top eight last month and enjoyed his first trip to Fayetteville.
"Great, great. I enjoyed myself a lot," Durojaiye said. "I really got everything I was looking for, a feel for the school and a feel for the program both on and off the field. I enjoyed it a lot.
"Yeah, some people try to make it seem like it's not (amazing), but I had a great time. Just hanging with the players, hanging with the coaches, and just the fan base stood out to me a lot. The way the fans are, it's just a strong connection. It's like those guys here are pro athletes."
Durojaiye was hosted by defensive tackle Marcus Miller and is being recruited by first-year defensive line coach Jermial Ashley.
"Coach Ashley is a great guy, great family," Durojaiye said. "I met his wife this weekend, she's a nice woman. I really just loved how the coaches interact with each other and interact with the players. Then talking to the hosts and the other players, they were like 'the coaches are like this 24/7.' That meant a lot to me that the coaches are not going to change up after they recruit you. They're going to be the same guys.
"A lot of players mentioned from the previous staff to this staff here, you can sense a change both on the field and off the field. You can call any of these coaches at any given time and they'll pick up the phone for you. That meant a lot to me."
Arkansas hasn't exactly developed strong pipelines in Delaware through the years, but Durojaiye says distance from home won't play a huge factor in his college decision.
"Not really, none of my schools I'm interested in are close to home," he said. "So I'll be playing far away from home anyway. I've been looking for a home away from home, and Arkansas feels like that."
Durojaiye prides himself in being able to play multiple positions across the defensive line.
"Being able to pass rush and stop the run (is my biggest strength)," Durojaiye said. "I'm a guy that, I'm looking to make plays and stuff like that. Just being a game changer and stuff like that."
Arkansas’ 2022 class currently ranks No. 13 in the nation and No. 6 in the SEC. The Razorbacks’ group of verbal commitments includes Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove running back Rashod Dubinion, Little Rock (Ark.) Parkview running back James Jointer, Clarendon (Ark.) wide receiver Quincey McAdoo, Clarendon (Ark.) tight end Dax Courtney, Maumelle (Ark.) offensive lineman Andrew Chamblee, Little Rock (Ark.) Joe T. Robinson offensive lineman E'Marion Harris, Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes offensive lineman Eli Henderson, Greenland (Ark.) defensive end JJ Hollingsworth, Springdale (Ark.) Shiloh Christian linebacker Kaden Henley, and Belleville (Mich.) safety Myles Rowser.
The Hogs are expected to host at least three more official visitors next weekend in linebacker Mani Powell of Canton (Ohio) McKinney, defensive tackle Patrick Kutas of Memphis (Tenn.) Christian Brothers, and offensive lineman Bryson Hurst of Gautier (Miss.).
HawgSports will have more to come on all of Arkansas' weekend visitors throughout the rest of the day.
