FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences is launching a virtual series this week focusing on opportunities for undergraduate students to get plugged in and involved.
The series, The Ag, Food, Life Experience, is open to any major across the college, including the School of Human Environmental Sciences, and will feature current students talking about their experiences and answering questions about involvement opportunities.
The first session is an introduction to the college's clubs and organizations, and is set for Tuesday at 4 p.m. on Zoom. Registration is required.
Current members of various clubs are taking part in a Q&A period to talk about their involvement, activities of those clubs, the benefits of participating and how other students can join.
"Bumpers College offers multiple opportunities to get students involved in activities outside of regular class and campus activities," said Lucas Simmons, senior academic advisor and student experience coordinator. "Sometimes it's challenging and overwhelming for students to get connected, and even more so in the remote climate we're in now. This series will introduce them to what Bumpers College offers and allow them to have conversations with other students who are active and involved across campus, and get their personal perspective on what it's like and how it can help them."
Bumpers College sponsors more than 20 different clubs and organizations, allowing students to meet and network with other students and professionals in specific areas of interest. In addition to honorary and professional societies, there are clubs associated with specific majors and concentrations.
Each session will be facilitated by Simmons.
"We hope that this series will help connect, encourage and inspire our students to be their best while continuing to connect them to resources within our Student Services Office," he said.
Other sessions will be scheduled during the fall and spring semesters. Future topics will focus on the college's honors program and undergraduate research opportunities, international programs and study abroad, internships and experiential learning, and an info session for prospective students.
