Letter from the Editor: Stay current with our newsletters - OregonLive

tederes.blogspot.com

Despite the fact some of us feel overwhelmed by the number of emails we receive, email newsletters are more popular than ever.

Newsletters bring some sense of order to the constant flow of news and information. They efficiently collect posts around high-interest topics and help readers feel caught up with the essential headlines of the day.

The Oregonian/OregonLive offers a variety of newsletters, free to readers. And we’ve just added more.

In recognition of the increased screen time brought on by the pandemic, we are now offering a weekly “What to Watch” newsletter, highlighting television and streaming content, written by our longtime TV critic, Kristi Turnquist.

“Newsletters have risen in popularity because they offer subscribers a convenient and efficient way to sort through all the information that comes at us daily,” says special projects editor Amy Wang, who oversees newsletters for The Oregonian/OregonLive. “Sports fans can get Oregon sports headlines delivered to their inbox twice a week. Gardeners who sign up for our Homes & Gardens newsletter no longer have to worry about missing the Pecks’ latest column – it’ll arrive via the newsletter and you can keep it in your inbox as long as you want.”

Wang is also the creator of our second new newsletter, “Bookmarks,” for those who now have time to delve into books as never before. Wang has been following Oregon authors and writing about the local literary scene since 2016.

These newsletters join a dozen others from our newsroom. Some are longstanding, such as our Morning Briefing, Sports and Breaking News newsletters. Others were launched in response to news, such as our Coronavirus News newsletter. Some highlight special projects and only arrive in the inbox when a new project is published. Find them all here: oregonlive.com/newsletters

We thank our many subscribers for their support of the journalism that powers these newsletters. You can sign up for a digital subscription to stay current on headlines, whether about the pandemic or Portland protests. Your subscription gives you unlimited access to our Subscriber Exclusive content on OregonLive.
