Duluth sees damage following heavy wind and rain - KBJR 6

DULUTH, MN-- Just before 9:00 P.M. on Friday, a short-lasting wave of heavy wind and rain made its way into Duluth.

Following the storm, there were calls of debris in roadways and on property.

On E 2nd St. between 7th and 8th Ave. in Downtown Duluth, a large branch fell on two cars and blocked one lane of traffic on E 2nd St.

Lily Mead, who owns one of the cars under the tree, said she was cooking dinner when the wind picked up, and she heard a loud noise. She then looked outside and saw the tree down.

Mead said that everything on her porch was blowing away at the time due to the strong wind.

"I feel very lucky, my car is totally fine. It's kind of hilarious just because the giant part of the tree fell on my car. I have insurance, I'm ok," said Mead when asked about the incident.

Police arrived shortly after the fall to assess the situation, City of Duluth crews arrived on the scene just after 9:30 P.M. to clear the large branches and debris off the cars and out of the road.

There were no injuries or other damages as a result of the branch.
