The Maryland Transportation Authority is warning drivers to avoid the Chesapeake Bay Bridge because of ongoing police activity Friday.

There are significant delays with only one single right lane getting across the westbound span.
WTOP Traffic Reporter Reada Kessler said all side roads are backed up as well.
Traffic is snarled for miles.
Eastbound, both lanes are open, but they will not be carrying two-way traffic any time soon, Kessler said. Not even during the afternoon rush. Partially because of the police activity but also due to extensive westbound delays that started early Friday.
