Denver weather: Slow-moving storms producing heavy rains possible again Friday - The Denver Post

tederes.blogspot.com

Denver was soaked by a rush-hour downpour Thursday night, clogging roads and bringing over a half-inch of rain into city limits. More of the same weather risks exist Friday as the Centennial State kicks off its Independence Day weekend.

Friday will warm to 85 degrees in Denver with a 40% chance of thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. The strongest storms working across the Front Range will produce rainfall rates of up to three inches in an hour or two. That could produce significant flooding, particularly near newer burn scars in Larimer and Boulder counties.

The heavy rain threat will decrease over the mountains early this evening and on the plains later into the night. Denver will dip to 60 degrees Friday night.

Local heavy rain remains a threat into the weekend, with flash floods possible.

Saturday will reach 90 degrees under sunny skies as wind gusts kick up to 15 mph. There’s a 40% chance of thunderstorms after lunchtime, with a low of 62 degrees Saturday night.

There’s a 30% chance for storms after noon on Sunday. Independence Day is forecast to be 90 degrees, with wind gusts possibly reaching 20 mph. The overnight low is expected to dip to 62 degrees, so it should be in the 70s around the time you look into the sky to see fireworks Sunday evening.

Monday should also be in the 90s, making for a warm holiday weekend.
