5-Day Nationwide Forecast
The northern limit of Southwest Monsoon, which was stalled over Barmer, Aligarh, Meerut, Ambala and Amritsar, is finally showing signs of progress into the remaining areas of Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi and Punjab this weekend. The area above 40°C will recede and will be limited to the India-Pakistan border region next week.
The cyclonic circulation over the west-central Bay of Bengal will get gain strength this weekend and a low-pressure area is likely to form by Sunday, July 11. As a result, the westerly winds from the Arabian Sea will intensify and may cause localised extremely heavy rain across Konkan Coast, Goa and Madhya Maharashtra till July 14. Coastal Karnataka and Kerala and also expected to witness isolated extremely heavy rains on Sunday and Monday, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts.
Vidarbha and West Madhya Pradesh may also witness isolated very heavy rains on Saturday and Sunday respectively under the influence of the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal.
The easterly flow from the Bay of Bengal into the northwest through the northern plains will strengthen as we head into the next week. Rainfall over the Delhi-NCR region will gradually turn from isolated to scattered to widespread, along with thunderstorms. Maximum temperatures are likely to drop by 4 to 8°C below-normal during the first half of the next week.
Enhanced rainfall is likely along the Konkan and Malabar coast, including southern Gujarat, for the next five days under intensified westerly winds. Daily precipitation is expected to be around 50 mm on average, reaching 100 mm in isolated places.
Persistent rainfall with occasionally intensified falls is likely over northeastern India during this forecast period.
Maximum temperatures will be higher than normal along Konkan and Malabar coast, while it will remain lower over along Gangetic plains and the eastern side of southern India. Minimum temperatures will be higher than normal over the Trans and Western Himalayan Region during this forecast period, while slightly lower than normal along Punjab plains from Sunday onwards.

- Widespread rain/snow and thunderstorms are likely over Uttarakhand.
- Scattered rain and thunderstorms are possible over Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, eastern Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.
- Scattered rain/snow and thunderstorms are likely over Sikkim.
