Heavy on the I Love You - Milwaukee Community Journal

tederes.blogspot.com

We live in a time where it’s so important to express your love for those you care for. Between COVID, other illnesses, car accidents, shootings and killings, this life we live is not guaranteed. People of all ages have been dropping like flies this year. Because of that, this holiday season just doesn’t seem the same. There’s so many traumatic events happening. It’s becoming so hard to take it in.

Nonetheless this is the time to stay close to the people you love and those that love you back. This year has been taking a toll on the mind. Everyone’s going through something. Even if things have been good for you, personally, there’s no way you aren’t effected by people you love that are going through.

Some of us have had so many deaths this year that we’ve become numb. Some of us are having trouble focusing at this point. Some people have decided to take a step back for reflection. We all are dealing with the grief and pain in our own way.

For me, I’ve realized that isolation is not the best idea. Staying away from others has its pros and cons, but I believe this is truly a time to stay connected. Drowning in your own thoughts isn’t healthy at a time like this. Constantly distancing yourself from others can put you in a bad space.

This is a year where we need to stick together. We need good vibes around us. We need to tell the people we love that we love them. We should show the people we love that we care. People are dying from many different things and literally at any given time.

For me, this has adjusted much mentally. My value system seems to have shifted a bit, in a good way. It’s made me want to give even more. I want to do more. I want to be even more. I want to be even more intentional; intentional about what I’m doing and who I’m doing it with; intentional about the motives behind my works.

It’s important to evaluate yourself and your actions. It’s important to know who you are and where you are. It’s a must to know why you do what you do. It’s important to tell the people you love that you love them.

It’s no secret that people can be here today and gone tomorrow. I want my loved ones to know how much I care. I want them to always know the love I have inside. Therefore, I’m heavy on the I Love You.
