As the summer starts to roll in, plenty of kids will be running towards ice cream trucks when those classic jingles start blaring through the street but a viral company is going to be leaving a lot of kids disappointed if they aren’t into heavy metal.

The Hell General is an ice cream truck that’s not intending to sell ice cream at all but rather deny people a treat while blasting metal into their ears.

A description on the Hell General’s website explains all you need to know about the truck.

“Hell General is the name I have given the production of my current project vehicle. The vehicle is a 1973 AM General FJ-8A Postal truck, that’s right, an Ice Cream truck! The name Hell General is derived from two meanings; Hell being the location of the original evil ice cream truck, and General after the manufacturer of the truck, AM General.

In all actuality, my intentions with the truck have nothing to do with selling ice cream. Rather than indulge brats with over price cream pops, I mean to deny those looking to buy a cold tasty treat by playing my happy chimes through the streets. And when the children materialize in the streets?

I will coast right past them with the sinister look of rejection.”

Metal Injection spoke to the truck’s owner Matt Peterson to understand more about why he created the idea.

According to the Hell General website, the inspiration came to Peterson when he was a child and failed to purchase ice cream from a truck after he didn’t have enough cash to make the purchase.

Peterson tells Metal Injection about his original intentions with the truck.

“I wanted a cool vehicle to bring to metal shows and tailgate before hand like folks do with sports games.”

“Unfortunately though, most of the shows I go to don’t have great spots for tailgating,” Peterson tells Metal Injection. “So I end up just driving through my neighbourhood blaring metal and ice cream truck jingles.”

The truck owner says he found the vehicle on Craigslist and worked with the seller on the design.

“It used to be an old fashioned soda truck. These are old mail trucks that would often get converted into ice cream trucks. I found it on Craigslist and the seller was having it worked on. I bought the truck from him and had the guy who was working on it do all the work, like paint it, sticker it, and make it drivable.”

He also has a playlist of songs on repeat throughout his adventures including tracks from Cephalic CarnageArchspireGojiraVader and plenty of other extreme acts.
