One Tagovailoa left Tuscaloosa in January. Four months later, the other is leaving, too.
Taulia Tagovailoa entered the NCAA transfer portal Friday, which made him the sixth Alabama player that chose to look elsewhere this offseason. Running back Jerome Ford (Cincinnati), offensive lineman Scott Lashley (Mississippi State) and cornerback Nigel Knott (East Carolina) have already found new homes, while cornerback Scooby Carter and tight end Giles Amos are still in the portal. Linebacker Markail Benton is also not listed on the roster.
After subtracting the departing seniors, the underclassmen that declared early for the 2020 NFL Draft and those not currently in the picture -- as well as adding the newcomers -- the Crimson Tide is currently at 89 scholarship players for the upcoming 2020-21 season, which is four over the NCAA’s limit for football scholarships of 85. So, expect some more movement.
But as things currently stand, Alabama has three quarterbacks, seven running backs, 10 wide receivers, seven tight ends, 15 offensive linemen, 12 defensive linemen, 17 linebackers, 14 defensive backs and four specialists either on the roster or joining it this summer.
