CHICAGO — Snow will hit Chicago on Wednesday morning — and it’s expected to mess up the morning commute.
The snow is expected to start late Tuesday and last into Wednesday, creating potentially hazardous conditions for people who have to travel, according to the National Weather Service. Chicago could get up to 4 inches of snow.
Tuesday will start off cloudy and will only warm up to 34 degrees, with winds up to 10 mph, according to the National Weather Service. It will begin to snow late in the night or very early Wednesday.
Wednesday will see the snow continue during the morning and day. It will be breezy, with wind gusts up to 30 mph, and the high temperature is only expected to hit 34 degrees.
Lake effect snow could continue into Wednesday night, but the weather’s impact on travel is expected to decrease in the afternoon as the slow dies down, according to the National Weather Service.
The snow is expected to be of the heavy, wet kind, and it could fall as heavily as 1 inch per hour at its peak Wednesday morning, especially east of I-55 and south of I-80, according to the weather agency.
Wednesday’s snow could continue into Thursday morning, according to the weather agency. Thursday is expected to be cloudy, with a high of 31 degrees and wind gusts up to 15 mph.
Friday also has a chance for snow in the morning. The day will be cloudy but slightly warmer, with temperatures hitting 36 degrees.
