LONDON – Yesterday, a LATAM Airlines Airbus A320 suffered heavy damage to its windshield, radome, and engine following heavy turbulence.
It is understood the aircraft affected was CC-BAZ, a 10.3-year-old Airbus A320-200, having been delivered to the carrier back in July 2012 under LAN Airlines.
Data from RadarBox.com shows that the aircraft was operating a flight between Foz Do Iguacu and Asuncion when the aircraft experienced heavy turbulence whilst flying through a storm.
Upon landing in Asuncion, the aircraft had suffered extensive damage, which you can see below courtesy of @GaboAir on Twitter:
Video footage has also surfaced, courtesy of @AM_1080 on Twitter, of how heavy the turbulence was onboard, with passengers being shaken up.
This is a developing story.
UPDATE #1 @ 1436UK time – More photos have emerged of the damage sustained to the aircraft courtesy of @GaboAir on Twitter once again.
