NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio
Loud exhaust, W. 130th Street: On July 16, police observed a camouflage Ford F-250 with a seriously loud exhaust -- or as the officer said, “lack thereof” -- traveling southbound on W. 130th Street.
Prior to pulling over the pick-up truck, the officer said they could smell heavy gasoline fumes. When told the reason why they were pulled over, the Eaton Township driver said, “Yeah, it’s a diesel. It’s a classic.”
It turned out the driver not only had four open license suspensions but had six more dating back to 2015. Also, he never had a driver’s license his entire life.
The man was arrested for driving with a suspended license, loud exhaust and not having a driver’s license.
Drug abuse, W. 130th Street: On July 16, police observed a silver Ford Fusion on W. 130th Street.
The driver, who wasn’t wearing her seat belt, told the officer she was trying to get her daughter home. The child was sitting in the backseat of the Fusion.
Her booster seat was actually shoved on the floor in front of the child. The mother said the child climbed out of her seat after being pulled over and kicked it to the floor.
That’s also when the officer smelled marijuana. When asked about the odor, the woman admitted to having roaches.
She also told the officer she knows that marijuana shouldn’t be in the car but she usually doesn’t drive the Ford because it’s suspended, just like -- it turned out -- the woman’s driver’s license.
During a search of the Fusion, police found several joints and Swisher Sweet wrappers
The driver, who denied smoking, was cited for drug abuse, driving with a suspended license, no child seat and possession of drug paraphernalia.
