Well above normal temperatures are expected across the area through Wednesday. High and low temps will be 15 to 25 degrees above normal each day. Elevated fire danger is expected Tuesday. Fires can get out of control quickly. Wind will be out of the south at 15 to 20 mph with gusts 25 to 35 mph, relative humidity, will be pretty low, less than 30 percent, and dry fuels which will contribute to elevated fire danger. A cold front is expected to move into the Tri-States on Thursday and stall out lingering through the end of the week, and confidence is beginning to improve that this scenario will result heavy rain and at least a few thunderstorms. While this situation is looking increasingly likely, the exact location and movement of this cold front remains very uncertain, as does the exact location and amount of the heaviest rain. However, the potential does exist for parts of the Tri-States will see multiple rounds of heavy rain over consecutive days, which opens the door for potential flooding.
