Rain and thunderstorms passing through the Triangle should taper off by Monday afternoon.
WRAL Elizabeth Gardner said heavy, steady rain could continue after lunchtime, then the rain should taper off by 2 or 3 p.m. Up to 1 inch of rain is expected to fall during the first half of the day.

Monday will start off as one warmest days of the week, with a high in the upper 50s, but will become chilly. The afternoon will be breezy and cooler, then temperatures will drop into the low 30s overnight.
Tuesday will be clearer and sunny but cooler, with a high in the upper 40s.
According to Gardner, another chance for rain returns Wednesday along with the coldest temperatures of the week.
Wednesday's high will be in the low 40s, and freezing rain may be possible northwest of Raleigh and in the Triad Wednesday morning. Gardner said a wintry mix is possible northwest of the Triangle, but snow is unlikely.
