CHARLESTON, W.Va. — There are 720 people hospitalized in West Virginia in connection with COVID-19, the state Department of Health and Human Resources reported Monday.
The pandemic high in hospitalizations includes 199 patients being cared for in hospital intensive care units with 82 patients on ventilators.
The DHHR reported 10 additional COVID-19 deaths Monday including a 66-year old male from Grant County, a 79-year old male from Raleigh County, a 90-year old male from Jefferson County, a 67-year old male from Preston County, a 71-year old male from Berkeley County, a 95-year old female from Berkeley County, a 76-year old female from Berkeley County, a 74-year old female from Berkeley County, an 86-year old female from Berkeley County, and a 78-year old female from Kanawha County.
Total deaths since the pandemic began are now at 978.
The DHHR confirmed 1,177 new cases Monday. Active cases now top 21,000 at 21,076.
The daily positivity test rate went to 8.33% Monday.
Only four of the state’s 55 counties are in the lowest category of spread, “green,” including Taylor, McDowell, Summers and Randolph counties.
