Washington College head women's volleyball coach Jamie Leventry announced his team's captains for the current year. Abby Hilty (Annandale, New Jersey), Kylie Peets (Salmon, Idaho/Salmon) and Isabella Sansanelli (East Northport, NY/Elwood-John H. Glenn) will lead the Shorewomen on and off the court.
"Abby, Kylie and Izzy have demonstrated the characteristics that we value in captains over their careers," Leventry stated. "They work hard to set an example for their teammates, they care deeply about the success and well being of their teammates as well as showing the competitive fire to push our team to new heights. We're happy to have them as our captains."
Hilty, a senior defensive specialist, played in 23 matches in 2019, leading the team in digs (3.51) and aces (0.49) per set. She was named the team's Most Improved Player in 2017.
Peets, a junior middle hitter, played in 22 matches in 2019, finishing second on the team in kills per set (1.67) and third in hitting (.140) while also averaging 0.34 blocks per set.
Sansanelli, a senior middle hitter, was named the Shorewomen's Most Improved Player last season. She played in 26 matches in 2019, finishing second on team in blocks per set (0.70) and hitting (.256) while averaging 1.52 kills and 0.32 aces per set. Sansanelli led team in blocks per set (0.88) and was second in hitting percentage (.272) while also averaging 1.67 kills per set in 26 matches in 2018.
