Watch a recording of the Keynote session of the HPC on AWS Online event on November 4-5, 2020 with Barry Bolding, Director Global GTM for HPC, Autonomous and Quantum Computing, Amazon Web Services and John Preskill, an American theoretical physicist and the Richard P.

In this video, Barry Bolding gives a quick introduction on HPC on AWS covering key AWS services like EC2 C5n instances, Amazon Braket, Elastic Fabric Adapter, AWS ParallelCluster, AWS DCV, Amazon FSx for Lustre and AWS Batch.

In the second part of the presentation, Prof. Preskill gives an overview of the current status and future prospects of Quantum Computing.

John Preskill is a theoretical physicist interested in quantum computing, quantum matter, and quantum gravity. His background is in particle physics and quantum field theory, but in the 1990s he got excited about the possibility of solving otherwise intractable problems by exploiting quantum physics. John have proposed potential applications of quantum computers to quantum simulation and other hard problems, and he has developed methods for protecting quantum systems from decoherence using cleverly designed software and hardware. He is especially intrigued by the ways our deepening understanding of quantum information and quantum computing can be applied to other fundamental issues of physics, such as the classification of topological phases of matter, nonequilibrium quantum dynamics, the quantum properties of black holes, and the quantum structure of spacetime.
